- The Devil Rays conducted their first-ever full minicamp, running players through workouts at the Huggins-Stengel Complex in St. Petersburg, FL.
- Players present included Francisco Guerrero, Edgar Ramirez, Marc Niethammer, Adam Sisk, Jason Berry, Travis Cain, Joe Pomierski, Eddy de los Santos, Miguel Suriel, and Melciadez Gonzalez.[1]

2002
- Infielder Ramon Soler was designated for assignment.[2]
- Pitcher Bobby Seay was activated from the 60-day disabled list and optioned to Double-A Orlando.[2]
