- Pitcher José Paniagua was placed on waivers and claimed by Seattle.[1]
- Pitchers Scott Aldred and Josias Manzanillo, infielders Russ Morman and Dave Silvestri, outfielder Jerome Walton, and catcher Darren Cox were assigned to minor league camp.[1]
2002
- Infielder Felix Martinez was released.[2]
- Pitcher Nick Bierbrodt and Delvin James, and infielders Aubrey Huff and Jared Sandberg were optioned to Triple-A Durham.[2]
