Before the Devil Rays
Bain had been selected out of Seward County Community College in the 82nd round of the 1994 draft by the New York Yankees, but opted to return to school instead of signing. There, he earned Third Team honors as an outfielder for his performace at the 1995 Junior College World Series.[2] Following the 1995 season, Bain transferred to Northwestern State University.
Professional career
Bain started his professional career with the Advanced-Rookie Butte Copper Kings in 1996, where he split time between the outfield and second base. He moved up to Class-A Charleston for the 1997, where he played second base exclusively. His offensive output declined sharply, though, and he was reassigned to Charleston to begin the 1998 season, where he continued to decline offensively and was released after 4 games.
After the Devil Rays
Following his departure from the Devil Rays orgnization in May of 1998, Bain played 14 games at shortstop with the Duluth-Superior Dukes of the independent Northern League. He did not return to professional baseball afterward.
