- Tampa Bay acquires the Double-A Orlando Cubs of the Southern League from the Tribune Company, owners of the Chicago Cubs.[1] (Orlando will later be renamed as the Orlando Rays.)
2003
- Pitcher Carlos Reyes was outrighted to Triple-A Durham.[2]
- Pitcher Jason Standridge was recalled from Triple-A Durham.[2]
