- Outfielder Mike Kelly was placed on the 15-day disabled list (hamstring), retroactive to April 1.[1]
- Outfielder Jerome Walton was recalled from Triple-A Durham to Tampa Bay.[1]
- Infielder Herbert Perry was moved to the 60-day disabled list.[1]
1999
- Infielder Tony Graffanino was signed to a minor league contract.[2]
