- Pitcher Rick White and outfielder Bubba Trammell were traded to New York (NL) in exchange for pitcher Paul Wilson and outfielder Jason Tyner.[1]
- Pitchers Jim Mecir and Todd Belitz were traded to Oakland in exchange for Jesus Colome and cash considerations.[1]

- Pitcher Shawn Camp was optioned to Triple-A Durham.[2]
- Pitcher Dan Wheeler was acquired from Houston in exchange for infielder Ty Wigginton.[2]
