- Tampa Bay names Scott Fletcher (manager), Howard Johnson (hitting), and Dennis Rasmussen (pitching) to the coaching staff of Single-A Charleston for the 1997 season.[1]
2001
- Pitchers Roberto Hernandez and Cory Lidle were traded to Oakland in exchange for outfielder Ben Grieve and cash considerations.[2]

- Utility player Robert Fick was signed to a 1-year Major League contract.[3]

- Major league pitcher Matt Garza, outfielder Fernando Perez, and minor league pitcher Zach Rosscup, were traded to Chicago (NL) in exchange for major league outfielder Sam Fuld and minor league pitcher Chris Archer, outfielder Brandon Guyer, infielder Hak-Ju Lee, and catcher Robinson Chirinos.[4]
