- Outfielder Mike Kelly was acquired from Cincinnati in exchange for a PTBN. It was the first Major League trade for Tampa Bay, and Kelly became the first player to be added to the Devil Rays' 40-man Major League roster.[1]

- Cather Mike Figga was claimed off of waivers from Baltimore.[2]
2009
- Catcher Gregg Zaun filed for free agency.[3]
