- Catcher John Flaherty was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a dislocated left thumb.[1]
- Catcher Tim Laker was purchased from Triple-A Durham by Tampa Bay.[1]
- Outfielder Jerome Walton was released on waivers.[1]
1999
- Pitcher Rolando Arrojo was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 25, with right shoulder inflammation.[2]
- Pitcher Mike Duvall was recalled from Triple-A Durham.[2]
